Our sports medicine team works with all sports injuries to the joints and surrounding areas. Keyhole (arthropscopic) surgery is mostly used, resulting in reduced morbidity and quicker recovery.

Our foot and ankle specialists provide treatments for a wide range of complaints, including bunions, stiff big toe (hallux rigidus), and toe deformities such as hammer toe, claw toe and mallet toe.

Our team can help you with all musculoskeletal ailments (conditions that affect your muscles, joints, ligaments and bones) not related to injury. Treatment will vary depending on your individual circumstances, but may include physical or occupational therapy, medication or surgery.

If you or a loved one suffers from knee or hip pain, our joint reconstruction team will support you through evaluation, pre-surgical education and physical therapy. We perform more than 300 knee and hip joint replacements every year, and our surgeons have an international reputation.

We use state-of-the-art implants and devices to help correct limb deformities, whether they are congenital (something you were born with), caused by an injury or medical condition, or developmental. Your individual treatment plan will be created based on a range of factors, including the location of the deformity and whether treatment is needed for function, health or cosmetic reasons.

Our limb reconstruction service deals with most deformity correction surgeries, using external and internal devices to correct alignment and lengthen bones. For your convenience, surgeries are also held at regional hospitals outside JHAH.

If you or a family member are suffering from osteoarthritis, we can help. Treatments include therapeutic injections for pain relief, advanced joint reconstruction and joint replacements.

We treat injuries ranging from strains and sprains to major high-energy and compound injuries. Repetitive strain injuries (RSI), tendonitis and bursitis are also treated by our experts, who may recommend a combination of medication and physical or occupational therapy.

You will receive an appointment confirmation for the Orthopedic Clinic by SMS and/or email before your visit. If you need to cancel or reschedule, use MyChart or call 800-305-4444 at least 24 hours before your appointment. Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment and go directly to the reception area to check in. Within five minutes, a member of our nursing staff will carry out a physical assessment and check your medical history with you. You will then have a wait of around 20 to 30 minutes before meeting your surgeon. The duration for a new referral visit is 30 minutes, and for a follow-up, 20 minutes. While your surgeon may be able to discuss a likely diagnosis for your condition at the first visit, this is often not possible until your test results have been reviewed. Once a diagnosis has been confirmed, we will discuss it with you, along with a suggested treatment plan. Some tests may be carried out on your first visit, others may be scheduled.
