We use the following tests to find the cause of a headache: Blood tests – to check for underlying conditions Sinus X-rays – to evaluate for congestion or other problems that may be corrected Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) – to produce detailed images of organs and structures within the body A CT or CAT scan – to show detailed images of any part of the body, including the bones, muscles, fat and organs. CT scans are more detailed than general X-rays.
